Can't get Media Server to stay running
« on: February 28, 2019, 03:15:45 pm »

I have Media Center24 running on a Mac Mini Running High Sierra (10.13.6) I am using an Oppo UDP205 as a client. When I launch Media Center, the server icon appears in my menu bar as it should. I can then quit Media Center 24 and the server remains active - for a while. Then I'll go into the Oppo's server list and the JRiver server is there. I open the server and find all my music in there and then I can select what I want to play and it does so without problems. Eventually, however the JRiver logo disappears from the Oppo's server list. Going back to the Mac, I find that the server logo is no longer in the menu bar and has, in fact, quit! Before I upgraded to the latest Media Center 24 build, it was rock-solid and I never had this problem. Does anybody know what could be causing the server on JRiver Media Center to quit like that wither no apparent reason?

Just in case to rule out possible bad files, have you tried turning off auto-import to see if it stops crashing?

I don't work for JRiver... I help keep the forums safe from "male enhancements" and other sources of sketchy pharmaceuticals.

I recommend that you keep the Media Center client open and visible on the Mac screen and test again.  I think you'll find the same thing happens:  At some point Media Center will be gone from the Mac.

I've had this happen many times over a few years of casual testing.

My experience might be isolated though.  If your MC does not crash with the client left open on the screen, then perhaps something else is going on.  Let us know how it goes when you test it.
