Can MC21 and MC24 peacefully co-exist?

I looked in Preferences and didn't see where I could set a particular application to play a CD. I must have missed it.

A new weirdness: I ripped a CD in MC21, to the same folder where the library I set up in MC24 looks for audio files.  The new tracks appear as they should in MC21.  They do not appear in MC24.  I've even ran an import, double checking that the device and directory/ folder where the new tracks are stored is being searched by the library in MC24.  No luck, it will not find or import the new files.  Any ideas?

It sounds like the files are not where you think they are.  In MC21, highlight one of the files in question, then do: <right click> Locate > On disk external

Then you will see precisely where the file is.

On the other hand, is there a good reason to leave MC21 installed?  If not, you can just remove it (drag it to the trashcan).  You might have good reason for keeping it around.  I'm just trying to simplify things for you if possible.

Good luck.

Brian.

Thanks, Brian, System Preferences had it.  I was looking for it from the Finder in Applications/Utilities.  Everything is just a little different between OS-X and Windows, and I don't remember where to look every time.

My new music files, according to the Finder, are exactly where I think they are.  And exactly where I'm telling MC24 to look for them.  I tried importing twice, once using auto-import, and once using a single import where I "pointed" to the exact folder where "The Verdict" is.  Weird.

To answer your last question, I guess I am keeping MC21 around for exactly this reason; in case something in MC24 didn't work correctly.  I was a little surprised that when I upgraded, MC24 didn't delete MC21 during the installation process, so that's another reason for keeping MC21.  If I can get those new audio files imported into my MC24 library, I will delete MC21...

I double checked, and the new files are exactly where I think they are.  I tried "import single folder" and was told to find "a valid folder to import".  I then tried importing a folder that MC24 already recognizes (a different album from the same artist).  And that didn't work either.

I noticed when I "browsed" for the folder I wanted to import with MC24 library import tools, the path came back …/Queensry che instead of …/Queensryche (there's an extra space in the name for some reason).  I tried importing with both paths, and neither is recognized.

JimH:
Why don't you install MC25 now?  It's on the Mac board.  It might solve the problem.

The name of the folder having a space could be the cause.
