upgrade question

Maybe putting this in the sticky was not a good idea....

Probably a dumb question, but I didn't see anyone else ask so here goes...
When you have downloaded a newer version of MC, should you uninstall the old one first?
All settings and libraries will be retained?

No. They coexist side by side as long as you don't try and run both on startup.

Keep the old version around until you're happy with the new. You shouldn't trust the in place upgrade. Back up the old version and restore settings into the new for best results.

Sounds like a good idea.
If all goes well with MC25, the I can uninstall MC24, hopefully with no issues.
