Audio Metadata Database Errors
« on: April 26, 2019, 06:11:38 pm »

Is there any way to inform the database curators of errors in database? If you take Vanessa Mae's Classical Album 1 as an example, there are at least four versions all of which are wrong for the initial album tracks and if you do an automatic metadata lookup for the album's metadata it provides some pretty junk information. Databases are often problematic when user data is uploaded and there does need to be a way of clearing the accumulation of spurious data.

EDIT: FreeDB does have the correct information for that album.

You may have a different edition of the CD.

YADB works by using a "voting" system.  Entries that are selected move to the top.  Entries that aren't selected move down and eventually off.

If they are all wrong, then no vote is cast.  It's then up to users to add new entries.

Standard issue UK release CD which if you do a rip and select the first offered database lookup - has poor Vanessa playing the 2nd track 4 times within the first 7 tracks although strangely they all sound different when played back. But not my problem really.
