Sync error on specific files
« on: April 17, 2019, 09:46:01 pm »

I've using JRiver 25 to sync my collections to an AK70 MKII player.

All files are synced successfully, except 6 files get "error" status every time.
Also, I have several playlists contain them, which are also synced.
The "error" files are copied correctly (can be played from the library of AK70), but I can't find them in the playlists.

Thank you in advance!

Please watch this thread:

Thank you for your reply.

As I mentioned in the topic, the sync function with AK70 works fine.
There are just 6 out of 4000+ files are failed.

The log function which is mentioned in your link is very helpful.
I've found the "error" parts in the log.
One of them is posted below.

Code: [Select]
0372016: 1056: Handheld: CPortableDriveWPD::Upload: Start
0372016: 1056: Handheld: CPortableDriveWPD::Upload: Analyzing upload

0372031: 1056: Handheld: CPortableDriveWPD::UploadFile: File upload failed
0372031: 1056: Handheld: CPortableDriveWPD::UploadFile: Finish (15 ms)
0372031: 1056: Handheld: CPortableDriveWPD::Upload: Finish (15 ms)
0372031: 16408: Handheld: CHHPluginThread::PerformFunctionCall: Finish (result: -2147467259) (15 ms)
0372031: 16408: Handheld: CHHPluginThread::ProcessCommand: Finish (15 ms)
0372031: 16408: Handheld: CHHUploadWorkerUploadThread::Thread: Upload complete (hr=-2147467259)

0372031: 16408: Handheld: CHHUploadWorkerUploadThread::Thread: Finish (3140 ms)

As a result, the files are copied successfully, but some error occured when JRiver is trying to write the playlist.
I didn't use a custom playlist format, but the default "*.pla" playlist.

Thanks.

I've tried to create more logs to find the problem.
But every "upload failure" has the same log.

CWPDHelper::StreamCopy: Failed to write 262144 bytes of object data to the destination stream, hr = 0x80004005

So it may be a playlist stream problem, not a file upload problem.

Is there any solution to this?

That error is basically the upload of the files to the device failing.

If 6 specific files always fail, and thousands others work just fine, it seems almost as if the device analyzes the files and for some reason doesn't accept these. I have no immediate thoughts why that might be.

Could it be the HDD showing signs of failure? … ie those 6 files could be sitting on bad sectors that HDD internal error correction cannot fix?

I use CrystalDiskInfo to monitor my desktop HDD … one of them has CurrentPendingSectorCount and UncorrectableSectorCount at value 2 … its a warning, but it stayed like that for years … since that HDD doesn't contain critical stuff, I am not in hurry to replace that HDD … wait till those numbers start to climb

So the device decides how these files and playlists be uploaded and storaged, not JRiver?
If that is the case, the only way to solve this problem seems to be getting another device to replace AK70 MKII, which I'd like to do in this year.
Thank you!

I don't have a HDD in my system, but thank you for your reply.

You don't have hard drive in your system? … SSD then? … even SSD can fail

Did you try to just copy those 6 files to some other location? … will at least verify that original files are good (depending on the player, playing them successfully does not always means files integrity is good … like playing damaged CD - might play fine but ripping might reveal damaged tracks)

So the device decides how these files and playlists be uploaded and storaged, not JRiver?

That is highly unlikely imo … but out of curiosity … is there something special about those 6 files … are they ALAC while rest of files are FLAC? … or maybe are they 24/192 while rest are 16/44.1? … anything that sets them apart from rest of your collection?

Nothing special on these files, encoding, tags, everything.
Tried some tricks to check them, and it seems that the only problem is the playlist.
I've synced them to my android smartphone by JRiver and everything seems fine, including the playlist.
AK70 MKII also has a custom android system on it, so I really don't know what to do now.

Maybe I should just send an email to Astell&Kern.
But those files are not so important anyway, so I've decided not to track this problem anymore.

Thanks for your help!
