The wiki seems pretty clear that only DVD Video is supported - https://wiki.jriver.com/index.php/DVD

I have some hi-res DVD Audio discs for Talking Heads, Fleetwood Mac, Chicago, etc. and just wanted to confirm that I can't play or rip these in JRiver, correct?

(JRiver 22.0.110 on latest Win 10)

After more research, I found this useful thread in the Steve Hoffman forums -

https://forums.stevehoffman.tv/threads/sacd-dvda-ripping.218488/

which led me to this tool. Just used the free trial to rip 24/96 and 24/192 flac files from my DVD-A discs - DVD Audio Extractor

http://www.dvdae.com/dvdae

Worked perfectly, super simple, hi-res flacs sound amazing.

Did you search the forum for "DVDA", "DVD Audio", or "DVD-Audio"?

See this?
DVD-Audio uses the MLP format, which Media Center does not have a decoder for.
