I have had this problem for some time with a certain set of older songs ripped many moons ago (the examples I have say JRiver v19.X).

One Boston song is 4:12 long, but at 4:12, rather than ending, it plays 11 more seconds. 

In MC25, the time counter goes past 4:12, so it says 4:16/4:12 on the time elapsed counter.

I have looked at the tags but can't seem to locate what the problem is.  It is driving me nuts because the playback issue occurs on all playback devices or programs (tested in itunes, vlc, sansa clip+ and phone playback)

So I opened the original file in an editor and saw the extra repeat stuff at the end....and cut it out.  NOW the song ends 8-9 seconds early!

There seems to be a tagging problem, but I can't figure out what is going on with this file.

Any insights would be wonderful, because just editing the files seems counterproductive.
