Switching from iTunes to JRiver
« on: June 06, 2019, 10:05:08 am »

Now that JRiver has finally crushed iTunes, we're getting ready for a flood of new users.  Here are a few starting points.

We've just added iTunes Playlist Import.  It doesn't do anything to your iTunes library, so you can go on using iTunes as well as JRiver.

You can continue to use iTunes to sync to your iPod or iPhone.

If anyone can correct the above, or add to it, please feel free.  Thanks.

My reading of the linked address was that apple have realised that stand-alone media players in which people own CDs, vinyls or other physical items are basically dead because what people want is to listen to high quality music on a streaming basis. In other words we are dinosaurs waiting for the inevitable cosmic intervention.

The iTunes import should find every playlist you had in iTunes and pull it into Media Center.  There's also a "Library" playlist that contains every track, so the import should hopefully import every iTunes file.

If you have any feedback, direct it to the thread here:

Thanks.
