Hello! i have jriver 25.0.48 x64 and i tried to play some old mp3 but they arent working. it just say that the playback encountered a problem. the thing is with windows media player they work  and other files with jriver work. the ones with problem i noticed they dont show me the duration of the file and the bitrate. what can i do? all the setting of the jriver are set to default

I can see that playback fails.  I can also see that if we rename the file to .mp4 playback works.

Considering the best way to handle this.

The verdict is that you need to rename your files to MP4.

We're not comfortable adding an MP4 detector to our MP3 plugin.

I take it back.  Hendrik proposed an idea about probing a header for the input type that I liked.

So next build (you might need to reimport) will start working with these files.

I have this type of files for some time and there are quite a few. i think i downloaded  them from youtube with an application. this was like 2 years ago, but occasionally i still find them like this when i grab it from internet.
