Jim, thanks, but that isn't the same display in the tree.  I use that choice for video, but not audio.  What happens is if you have the tree open in "Playing Now" and select something else in the tree toggled open, the small display pops up in the tree on the left. 

Marko, appreciate your answer.  If I understand, you are saying detach the display pop-up in the tree and just leave it open, if I get your meaning.  It is better, but I still get a small box stating that the display is attached.  I will say it is less obtrusive.  No other way to completely inhibit the pop-up?

You're asking about the little display box at the bottom, on the left, that comes up when you play something.  It shows an album cover when audio is playing.  If that's right, the Marko's answer is correct:

Open a new tab by clicking on the little area to the right of your current tab. 
In that tab, click on Playing Now in the tree on the left at the top.
Playing Now will be displayed in that tab.
Click on your original tab and do whatever you want.  The display is now "stuck" in that other tab and will never pop up again over the tree.
