JRiver Cloudplay in Android
« on: July 26, 2019, 08:08:35 pm »

Pretty cool, but when I change stations, the app becomes unresponsive for about 20 seconds (sometimes the Android "kill this app?" dialog comes up).

Radio Paradise loads much faster.

Is it when you're changing Radio JRiver stations?

Yes, but even when starting the first station actually.

I tried this multiple times today, LTE, Wi-Fi and on two phones with the same result.

Initially tuning or changing stations takes about 50 seconds.  The app is unresponsive and I have no feedback that I clicked something.

When on Wi-Fi, I checked with speedtest, and it was 25 Mbps up and down.  Nothing spectacular, but certainly faster than you would expect for a mobile app.

There should at least be some progress bar to let me know it's doing something and so android doesn't try to kill the app.

I see what you're asking now.  I said Cloudplay in the title, but then talked about Radio JRiver.  I was getting the two confused.

I just opened up the Cloudplay section and the delay seemed quite a bit less.  Loading the playlists initially took a long time and the "kill app" screen came up twice while I hit wait.  If I change songs in a playlist, it's a solid 5 - 6 seconds before the app shows any change.  I'd expect some form of a dialog telling me it's working on something.
