Show latest track year in album view?
« on: August 10, 2019, 12:41:32 pm »

I believe JRiver, when showing the year for an album, calculates an average based on the date for the individual tracks.  This can lead to some odd effects; the attached screenshot, for example shows Paul Simon: 1964-1993 as having a "year" of 1981.  I didn't think the recording industry was advanced enough to know songs from the future of an album's release!  :)

I did try filling in the "Date (Release)" tag for this album, to no avail.

Would it be possible for this view, instead of computing an average, to just take the latest (max) date of any individual track?  That seems more likely to correspond to the release date for an album than the average of tracks.  Of course, if "Date (Release)" is available, that could be shown instead.

Thoughts?
