How to create a certain view?
« on: August 22, 2019, 03:36:35 am »

Hi,

i would like to create a view which contains albums only when there are Hi-Res versions and normal versions of those albums (in my case AAC and ALAC files).

How could i write a selection that would create such a result?

Thanks for your help!

Someone else might be able to do better, but I'll give it a try.

This will depend very much on how well your metadata matches.  If Artist/Album/Name for all the tracks are identical and just the bit depth and sample rate are different, it will work fine.

Create a new Album view.
Under set rules for file display, add a modify results rule:
Only duplicates of  Artist; Album; Name

Of course if you had set your metadata that way, the 2 album versions would be grouped together in MC.  Perhaps you use stacks.  But if you named the 2nd album differently (like adding the suffix High-Res) then MC would not consider them duplicate albums.  You would then have to remove album from the modify results rule.

Likewise if you added a sampling rate to the name tag; then remove the name tag, as it is not a duplicate.

Get the idea?

Thanks, wer.

This works very well for me.
By sorting some fields within the groups i can clearly identify what is Hi-Res and what not.

Thanks for your help!
