Plenty of people have reported black screens after a Windows update broke functionality, which required a video driver update to fix.

Specific versions depend on your hardware, manufacturer, etc. I'm using 425.31 on the hardware in my signature currently, as it maintains 3D capability. It's not the latest, obviously, but works.

If you are on the latest nVidia drivers and there are no updates, downgrade. nVidia may have broken something with the latest. Happens all the time.

The optional Windows 10 update KB4512941 appears to be the culprit here, I updated and got exactly the same symptoms as @fedpul.
Tried several different Nvidia driver revisions for my MSI GTX1060 to no avail.
Backed out of the Windows 10 update using System Restore and Red October HQ /Madvr worked fine again.

Thanks for reporting that.

Hi terrym@tassie, that did the trick. I uninstalled the update KB4512941 and Red October HQ works again, so it is not a driver problem.

If any of you are having this problem try this and then block the update from being auto installed following the guide in this site:

Thanks for sharing!!!

@JimH Will you be reporting if the problem is fixed so we can install that update again?

Running MC v25.086 no issues with ROHQ just installed KB4512941 on two different machines with nvidia cards (GT710 and GTX1060). Using drivers v398.36 and v397.64 respectively. The GT710 uses MC "balanced" madvr profile, the GTX1060 uses my own custom madvr profile.
