Since some versions it is no longer possible e.g. to enter a new genre via the keyboard. MC displays the drop-down menu and the keyboard responds to one or two inputs. Then MC do what it wants. Flip to something else / stop playing when you hit the space-bar.
Trying to erase a letter (backspace) will take you to the library view Artist.
This happens both in the action window and in the detail view (F2 for editing).

MC is not useful for me at the moment!

Same here.
The Linux version acts as an Alpha stage software at best.
I complained about it in another thread (responsiveness issues) and was told that it acts this way only on KDE.

Since you're using Xfce, That's clearly not the case.

MC (for Linux) is not useful for me at the moment either.

this was a problem for me a while ago but was fixed a few revisions ago.

What version are you running i'll have to double check it hasn't come back for me as well.

The problem has resurfaced for me also.

Just had a go on 25 build 101 and couldn't produce the error.

debian bullseye / nvidia prop driver / gnome-shell

wayland and xserver tested no problem.
