Tagging does not work anymore

Click on the search box and start typing > no characters are written>click on the search box again without clicking anywhere else and then start typing > characters are typed out
Edit tag>click a field to highlight it>click after the last letter in the entry>backspace>it backspaces one character>type a letter>no letter is typed out>click field again and type letter> letter is typed out

Ok, got part of that.
The search field works fine for me in Mate on Bullseye but I was able to reproduce the issue with backspace in a tag field.
Typing the backspace seems to lose the focus somehow.

Ok, figured that out, it took a while!
It's that the window manager is stealing focus from the edit window when the suggestion window is created even though we create it as a non-focus window.
So the next build 25.0.113 fixes this. Also a couple of other windows movement and resizing performance tweaks.

Great! I think the search box problem also stems from the drop down suggestion stealing the focus, so hopefully this will fix that issue too even though you could not replicate it.

Cool, it's out now, let me know.
I might have to do that search one separately which explains why I couldn't reproduce it, I didn't get a suggestion box.

It works much, much better now, thank you! The search box is also better. There's a little delay between clicking the search box and having it recognize input (so the first few characters I type out will get missed), but the usability is way better and I won't be constantly backspacing through my views.
