Any use case for Flat Line Overflows vs. Clip Protection?
« on: September 22, 2019, 02:55:01 am »

Hi

Just wondering if there is any use case for Flat Line Overflows vs. Clip Protection in the DSP Studio?

Is Clip Protection degrading the audio at all?

Both options can have an audible effect, but thats unavoidable since clipping is a bad situation to be in.

Clip Protection will reduce the overall volume once clipping would've happened to a point where it no longer clips, this will reduce the volume of all further audio (in the same file, afaik) as well, so it might be noticeable for a longer time - but it should help to avoid further clipping, since when you clip once, it might do it again.

Flatline only affects the clipping moment itself, but it might result in an audible artifact.
