Data recovery from crashed Windows 10
« on: October 27, 2019, 03:43:29 am »

My story is this:
I had , on my Music PC , a Linux installation I never used and I wanted to get rid of it before I cloned the HD  as backup.
I removed the partition with linux on and the result was that now the PC could not start because the master boot record was created by Linux and it pointed to the partition that was erased. I tried everything to rebuild the original Win MBR , but without succes.
All the files and folders from the Win 10 installation was there and I took a (actually several) copy of everything, before I installed a new Win 10 on the Music PC harddisk. And I downloaded a new copy of MC25.
Now my problem is:
How can I get the data from the original MC25 installation (I had two parametric EQ and a convolver in the DSP studio)?

Find a recent MC Library Backup in your backups of the Windows 10 disk. Restore that backup to your new MC installation, with settings. You may need to find the original convolver file as well. Not sure. Restoring settings will restore the Parametric Equaliser DSP settings.

Thanks!
That did the trick, except for one thing. I had a mid/side eq made in FabFilter, but that was lost. I have the original .dll from fabfilter, but now I get an error when trying to load that in "manage plugins" (failed to install plugin...)

Are both the program and the plug-in 32 bit?  Or 64 bit?   MC can be downloaded for either.

I believe the original installation and the new are the same, as both of them have a folder named x64 inside the JRiver folder.?
a 32 bit .dll should not be a problem for a 64 bit installation, right?

32-bit plugins won't work with 64-bit Media Center. If it's a 32-bit plugin, you'll have to use 32-bit Media Center. Likewise the reverse is also true, 64-bit plugins won't work in 32-bit Media Center. The architecture (32-bit or 64-bit) of both the plugins and Media Center need to match in order to work.

That was it. I downloaded the 32 bit version and now all works. Thanks
