JRiver Media Center 25 & MQA
« on: November 10, 2019, 06:38:36 am »

I am using Linux Mint 19.2 64 bit "Tina" GNU/Linux on my three PCs and JRiver Media Center 25.0.113 64 bit Master License. I own both an Audioquest Dragonfly Cobalt and Pro-Ject Pre Box S2 Digital among other audio components. Today, I listened to the new Beth Hart music album entitled War in my Mind. I was surprised that the Pro-Ject showed MQA with a blue light on. I thought JRiver does not support MQA at all. I tried a 2L music track that I know is MQA and the MQA light up with a blue light on and it showed the correct word length and sampling frequency.

So, I want to know directly from JRiver. Does MC 25 support MQA or not? It seems like it does and I never expected this especially from the GNU/Linux build version. I'm confused here, but pleasantly surprised.

Nope, it doesn't support it. That said, as long as you don't use any sort of DSP (and probably have volume at 100%) MQA can be "passed through", so to speak. But it's not official, supported, etc.
