You may have two copies of MC running.  Only the first one can write.

To be safe.  Restart your computer, run one instance of JRiver.  If you get the pop-up telling you it's still in read only mode you probably need to delete you lock.jmd file.  See this thread for details on how to deal with that https://yabb.jriver.com/interact/index.php?topic=52578.0

Are you running Media Network or Media Server on startup? If so, that could cause this issue.

Go to MC's Options > Startup > Windows Startup.

Is Run on Windows startup: set to Nothing, Media Center, Media Server or Media Center and Media Server?

If that's set to Nothing, the only other thing that comes to mind is multiple versions of MC installed or both the 32-bit and 64-bit versions of MC25 installed at the same time or something like that.

P.S. You can also limit MC to run only one instance at a given time, by going to MC's Options > General > Advanced section and making sure Allow multiple instances to run at one time is unchecked. That will limit MC to only one running instance/window open at a time.
