Custom Fields
« on: May 04, 2003, 02:28:30 am »

I was wondering what uses other MC9 users had made of the custom fields. So far, I've got...

With......used for secondary artists (eg Elton John with Billy Joel)

From......the names of shows, films or tv shows

US Chart Pos...........from King's chartfinder
UK Chart Pos......................ditto
US Country Chart Pos........ditto

Composer...although I'm not sure if that's now standard

I've added view schemes for these and they're getting quite useful

I have added quite a few...

For Audio -
* Album / Single for creating a catalogue of all lbums and singles (uses a view scheme with sorting set to show only 1st track and view shows just Artist, Album and Year.  makes a nice printout when exported as HTML)

For Video -
* Videotype eg Movie, Music Video, Series etc
* Series - For series eg The Simpsons
* Series #, Episode # - For sorting series correctly in a view scheme

All I need now is some way to assign specific fields so that only appear for specific files in the properties list.  MC 10 I guess ;D

My favorite custom field is Original by. If the track is a remake/cover version, I put the name of the original artist here. If I don't know who the original artist is, but I do know that it's a remake, I put a "?". I have a smartlist that shows every track that has something entered in the Original by field, whether it's an actual artists name or just a "?".
