Disc # tag
« on: November 27, 2019, 12:36:58 pm »

If I change the disc # tag from one number to another (eg 1 to 2) then jriver reflects the change as expected. However if I set the tag to blank then jriver refuses to update either automatically or by selecting "updating library (from tags)" and just leaves it as the last value set.

Have you tried right clicking on the tag (in the tag window) and selecting Empty instead?

This is one of those 'grey areas' that gets a flip-flop every now and again, but has been this way for a number of years now, since a user complained that deleting the bios data in MC should not result in that tag being removed from the file also as that meant that the data was lost.

At that time, this was considered incorrect and so, we have what we have today, and it's not considered to be broken. It's one of those that that really depend on your angle of approach...

I'm not sure I understand. If I specifically choose the menu option "Update Library (From tags)" or, as per your example  "Update tags (from library)" then that's what it should do.   You can't just ignore random tags and claim it's working correctly.
As long as it's not doing that automatically without the user's consent then I don't see the issue here.
