Media Center freezes if NAS goes to sleep, but I have no lib songs on it AFAIK

Been going on for a while and I can't work it out. I have a Synology NAS on my LAN (wired access).  As configured it goes into Sleep mode after about 10 mins of inactivity.  Yet MC22 won't respond if the NAS is in Sleep mode. In fact it seems to try and access it, which wakes it up and then MC22 unfreezes and I can use it again.

AFAIK I have no MC library items on the NAS. I've tried to create playlists to confirm this and they return no files. 

Any ideas?  If it helps, the address for the NAS music is the default "\\DISKSTATION\music"
