Updating library after change of drive letter [solved]
« on: December 16, 2019, 11:36:18 am »

What is the recommended way to change the drive letter in MC? I have moved about 25% of my files from X: to Y:, how do i "find and replace" the drive letter so MC knows where the new files are?

EDIT: Sorry, didn't look good enough, the "rename move and copy" library tool should do the job

So.... I need a bit more info.  Currently my music files are on an external HD that I need to change the drive letter for.  Should I first use Disk Management to change the drive letter then use the "Rename, move & copy files" function under Library Tools?  I don't see how that will work since MC won't be able to find the original files which used to be on the E drive since they will by that time be on the renamed H drive. (And they won't need to be "moved"..... anyway.)

Search the forum for "find and replace" and you will find lots of information on what to do.

Also, read the "Rename, move & copy files" Wiki article. It explains the "find and replace" functionality.

Ask again if you can't find anything.
