Portable players

iPod's releasing the new version iPods which look pretty nice. They look like nice little mp3 players.
BUT
They're falling behind. Who wants an mp3 player when you can have a divx player and mp3 player with colour screen.

because I could care less about watching videos on a small screen.

They are cool little players but they've been demoed for several months now with no release.  I think I first saw the RCA Lyra last summer!

The iPod will remain the king due to the brilliance of the interface.  I agree, it's kind of behind the times in terms of features but the one thing it does well (play music) it does better than anything.  I'd like to see Apple drop the price by $200 but that won't happen until the competition really forces them to.

I'd love to see these HD based devices shrink a little more and integrate full PDA functionality.  That would interest me much more than divx compatibility.

Technology is great so long as you ignore all the many aggravating aspects of it.
