"Can't play this video" on Nvidia Shield Pro
« on: December 31, 2019, 01:25:12 pm »

Opened up the JRiver app today on my Shield and noticed that I could now "Load Library" under "Tools" (Yay!), but after I got my library loaded, I can't seem to play any of my videos. Most are blu-ray mkvs with FLAC audio and (obviously) various video codecs. I have a cat7 ethernet connection, albeit a long one (a 50 ft. cable). Is this normal behavior, i.e., is streaming video not quite ready on Android-as-client yet, or could I be doing something wrong?

Thanks and Happy New Year!

My Shield doesn't load the library either. I'm on v25.

26.0.16 was on beta.  I've now released it, so you should see it soon.

You will lose some ability to display cover art.  It should be back in the next build.

OK, I can load the library now, but I'm in the same boat as the OP, will not play any video at all on either of my shields.

Also, is there any way to get TV to show as anything other than flat?  There is no season and episode info included from what I can see.  I was really hoping this would be a decent interface, or at least good enough to get by, but from what I see, it's not something that is usable for TV shows as of right now.

In a browser (not on Android) find it in the Play Store, click here:
https://play.google.com

Search for JRiver for Android.  You can tell Google which device to install it on.

There's probably an easier way.

video does not play for me.   running 26.0.16

audio plays ok

this is via the load library path.   video is mkv and mp4.

does dlna on the library server need to be configured?  curious how this plays back since the library references files on shares not mounted on the android tv

For now, image and video playback does not work when loading a library that requires authentication. I just added a note that you can work around this for now by setting read-only to everyone on the library server.
