JRemote is now on Android

Search for it on the Playstore (make sure you get the one from JRiver).

Any chance that we'll be able to use this to cast in the future?

Maybe.  Not certain.  Gizmo works with Chromecast.

This is great! Can't believe I missed this in July. I really like the interface, especially the dark theme.

Would like to one day create some custom views - if this could be done from the main server installation it could be really powerful.

EDIT: I can do this already, just saw in Media Network > Advanced. Neat!!!

That's great for running in a house with a central server and using an Android device as the remote.

That's not however our use case.

Consider a programmer who writes web apps on a Chromebook. She takes the Chromebook to a cafe with bad WiFi, plugs a 1TB flash drive with her music library into the Chromebook, plugs her iFi Micro DSD into the Chromebook, plugs her headphones into the iFi, fires up JRiver, and plays her music.

Except there's no JRiver.

And the native music player on the Chromebook doesn't recognize the JRiver .ape files.

JRiver remote won't help. The server is back at her house. And the WiFi is bad.

What she needs is for JRiver to run natively on her Chromebook.

Hi everyone, I have a question about JRemote. I use MC on a windows pc that I use only for store and play hi-def music; that pc doesn't have a monitor and so I use jremote with an android tablet. The problem is that I can't control the library and so it's for me impossible to delete files from the disk, that is now full. How could I resolve this problem? Do you think that it's a feature that will be insert in JRemote in the future? Thank you

Install the free Microsoft Remote Desktop app on your tablet.

I got rid of JRemote months ago on my Android, because it would only play one track, then stop. I would try a second time, and it usually worked. I used Gizmo, and had the same problem, but less often. Thanks to another forum member, I tried BubbleUPnP, which works a bit better, but the app is too confusing.

Re-installed JRemote on my Android, and it's even worse! Absolutely one track, then stops. Over and over again, on my Moto X Pure Edition (Marshmallow). I thought maybe it's the Chromecast connection, but tried it just playing on the phone. Consistently stops after one track. I finally even got it to say, "Unfortunately, JRiver has stopped" (which was what was happening anyway).

Checked my network, and not having any problems with the connection (I sat in one place in my kitchen the whole time). I deem this product not working on my Android.

Try installing a different audio player on the phone.

? Isn't that the whole reason to use JRiver? Also, BubbleUPnP is a different player.

I was seeing exactly the same thing on my Moto E, on a couple of different networks. Then, for another reason, I installed a WiFi range extender at home. When the signal is strong enough JRemote will play without stopping after one track. Gizmo works even with a weak signal, but JRemote seems to want a very strong signal. In the end I picked up a Chromecast Audio device and normally use that to feed a portable player.

I can get a steady -42dBm sitting my phone next to the ChromeCast on the 2.4GHz side, and -45dBm on the 5.0GHz side. No wavering. I think that's pretty steady and strong. This is really frustrating!!! Perhaps a conspiracy for me to get the Id?!?!?!?! I'll run Cat6 to it, and then try to connect my phone via wifi to that.

^ Is your JRiver computer hard wired to the network?  Both ends have to have good connections to stream network audio.  If the server is hard wired, take your phone to your router and sit or stand right next to it, so you'll be rather sure that you're "in range".  Then test again.

If the server isn't hard wired, that would be a good step to take if it's convenient to run a temporary cable or something.  Just some ideas.

Yes, server is serving via ethernet. All this is moot. I don't know how they do it, but I'm gonna spend more money. I'm gonna get the Id, wire it to a switch, and run that via wifi to my phone. God, if I can't get that to work... I'll just cry.

Look in the Library section of the Google Play Store, it should still be downloadable from there.

Latest JRemote not connecting to my JRiver Media Center server. I just updated my Media Server to JRiver Media Center 26 and although all regular clients and Gizmo work fine, I am unable to connect to the server with the latest (beta) JRiver Remote which I purchased today. I have checked and tested all settings (username, password) and they are fine. But the JRemote app on my Samsung Note 4 just shows a "Connecting" dialog box which spins and spins without connecting. I cant even kill the app and need to reboot the phone.

Ideas?
