Hello,

MJ 9.0.394

Following setting:

TRACK# ARTIST - ALBUM -  NAME

Result in:

01 Vladimir Ashkenazy - Rachmaninov Piano Concerto No. 3 -  Allegro ma non tanto.mp3
02 Vladimir Ashkenazy - Rachmaninov Piano Concerto No. 3 -  Intermezzo_ Adagio.mp3
03 Vladimir Ashkenazy - Rachmaninov Piano Concerto No. 3 -  Finale_ Alla breve.mp3

Note the underscore ...
Intermezzo_ Adagio.mp3
Finale_ Alla breve.mp3

Anybody out there know how to solve this??

remove the underscore or add it?

In MC9 there is a clean option and this removes the underscore. MJ8 has Clean Also not sure if it works on the Underscore or not but it is under

Slect Files, right click, properties, tools, clean

you can also use Find and replace

Find "_" Replace With " "

PS: there is no such version as MJ 9.0.394  there is a MJ 8.0.394 Version however

Thank you for the feedback.
Within 'settings' I did not 'ask' for an underscore and I donot want to have. There is no need for an underscore.
Seems a bug to be in MJ ....? Why this underscore.

Ok i now know what is happing

well some chrs can't be in the file name, if they are MC will convert them to Underscore.

They can't be in the file name because windows does not allow it, there is like 10 chrs that can not be in the file name.

It may be that special international characters are being replaced by the underscore.  9.0 has recently added unicode and may handle this better.

Hello again, I am indeed 'still' using v.8 (not 9).
Am comparing a number of cd-rippers, such as
Acoustica MP3 CD Burner
AudioCatalyst
audiograbber
CDCopy
Easy CD Ripper
Easy CD-DA Extractor 5.0
Exact Audio Copy
MP3 CD Extractor

Most of above rippers write mp3 to:
<directory> (like name of artist)
<subdir> name of album
track - title etc.

now, when looking on the MJ window it states things
like:
Gidon Kremer plays Paganini (Kremer/Muti/VPO)
and
sostenuto / Allegro

note the '/'


This '/' is 'translated' as and underscore like Kremer_Muti_VPO  on the harddisk.
and:
Sonata Varsavia _ I.Allegro viv
Sonata Varsavia -II.Recitativo
Sonata Varsavia _ III.Tema pola
Sonata Varsavia _ IV.Finale.mp3

Can this underscore not be replaced by a blanc(space)
or a '-' ?

Windows Don't allow that Chr in a file name.

Underline is the normal chr used on file names on servers.

This currently can't be changed by a user.

This is the first time this has come up if i remember correctly, and i don't see it as a real big problem.

maybe other users have other feelings.

There are some programs that I've used (maybe Plextools or Tag&Rename, ICRATM ) that just ignore the not-allowed character and don't replace it with anything or just replace it with a space.  I think that's what he's aksing about.

Really I think A Space Would Be Better Since I Also Don't Like The Underline And I Always Remove Them.

So i would say convert to space and when done converting the file name make sure that there is not two spaces in a row.

But thats just me, and something i can do manualy by selecting all files and using clean.

Thanks for the feedback. I am afraid that even MJ9 (which I have downloaded and trying out) can't solve the underscore problem. Seems I have to live with it.

I came across another problem, which is a major one...
The info of classical CD may be a bit different than that of modern music.

e.g.
composer: Giovanni Battista Pergolesi
CD-titel   : Stabat Mater
Artists    : Andreas Scholl, Barbara Bonney Christophe Rousset
Track# : 01
Title : O quam tristis.mp3

What happens -
a. the artists donot show up
b. name of composer is put under artists.

To be frank, I checked this with other utilties, such as EAC and Audiograbber: same there.

Is there a way to change this?? Needcase manually insert composer and artists..
