26.0.18 (1/14/2020)

1. Fixed: Updating the file playback range could lead to a crash in some cases.
2. Fixed: Decoding of ALAC in M4A could result in artifacts in some files.
3. Changed: Switched the no files double-click message from play all files to play audio files in Playing Now (so things like notes don't get played).
4. Changed: Updated FFmpeg to 4.2, used for file analysis and transcoding. Also fixes a long standing crash on playing a video file while being transcoded.
5. Fixed: Setting the tempo with MCWS didn't always take effect right away.
6. Changed: Updated to Monkey's Audio 5.12.
7. Changed: Revised the image date code to hopefully load the date more reliably from images.
8. Changed: When MCC_HANDHELD_UPLOAD arrives, it will first recheck the sync (otherwise it would just sync nothing after changes).
9. Changed: Updated Greek translation (thanks Panagiotis).
10. NEW: You can select the country of Italy from the Amazon store menu at the top right.
11. Changed: Updated German translation file (thanks Bytestar).
12. Changed: The menu placement of the main program scales with the size of the program so at a larger size it gets shifted (should fix Blue Steel problems).
13. Changed: Updated French translation (thanks Stéphane).
14. Fixed: Picking thumbnails and hitting the play button to play them would not always work properly after a recent change.
15. Changed: Updated Greek translation (thanks Panagiotis).
16. Changed: Updated Italian translation (thanks matteo e massimo).
17. Changed: Updated the Hungarian translation (thanks pimpolo).
18. Changed: Updated the "New / Improved This Version..." link to point to version 26.
19. NEW: Made it possible to specify the bitrate of an external encoder instead of it always using 1440.
20. Changed: A few threading changes that could improve stability.
21. NEW: Added a way to rate playlists from Standard View.
22. Fixed: Panel - When playing a file the play command could get sent to multiple zones.
23. NEW: Added an IsUpperCase expression.
24. Changed: The option to "Move all non-imported files in folder with selected media files" only runs if the file is imported (so it won't engage on files from the Explorer view, etc.).
25. Changed: Added a JSON export to MCWS File functions (eg. Browse/Files, Playlist/Files, etc).
26. NEW: Composer views will use a Composers folder for cover art and look there (instead of the artist, etc. views).
27. NEW: Added a Cover Art lookup from Google for composer images.
28. Fixed: Corrupt FLAC files could hang the program.
29. NEW: Made a new Theater View option "Show Showtime! rule..." to specify a search to not show the Showtime! item (so it doesn't have to show for television programs, for example).
30. Changed: Allow any multi-channel file to be uploaded to Cloudplay.  We used to allow two channel only.
31. Changed: Added the media subtype of "Extras".
32. NEW: Added a "Showtime!" play mode to videos in Theater View to play trailers and the like before starting the movie.
33. NEW: You can set the rules for Showtime! in Options > Theater View > Showtime! Rules...
33. Changed: Issuing a negative number to MCC_STOP_AFTER_DELAY will issue a hard stop instead of stopping after the current track after the time-out.
34. NEW: Made the showtime roller item optional in Theater View options.
35. Fixed: When doing a "Convert or Resize" on an image, it would not convert a non-JPEG image to JPEG if the size was not being changed.
36. Changed: The tree state for expanded and collapsed items is remembered between runs (Ctrl+G collapses all).
37. NEW: Added the library server command File > Download From Library Server to download selected files.
38. Changed: Sorting is described as "Ascending (A to Z)" and "Descending (Z to A)" in the sort menu instead of only the A-Z naming.
39. Fixed: If a library server library was loaded, the name Library Server after the name of the library could go away.
40. Changed: Thumbnail text doesn't wrap if there are as many lines of thumbnail text as there are lines to display (but instead just ends with ...).
41. Fixed: Tabbing quickly through the Tag Action Window could cause a glitch.
42. Fixed: Made the location view schemes work better cross-platform.
43. NEW: Added an optional waveform bar to the player window (right-click) that uses data from analyze (you'll need to analyze over to get the information).
44. Changed: Made the waveform colors customizable in the skin (WaveformBarA / WaveformBarB in PLAYERBAR / Display).
45. NEW: Added the option to lookup lyrics to the import tool.
46. NEW: Added the media key mode "Hot keys (ignore volume)" to leave volume commands to the system.
47. Fixed: In video playback when a second video was played without stopping the first video, the display settings might not reset to original desk top settings as the second video required.
48. NEW: Added the ability to set the text alignment used for thumbnail lists.
49. Changed: Authentication fixes and cleanup. Mostly related to Library server authentication.
50. NEW: Added the media subtype Animation.
51. Changed: Simplify MC's internet USER AGENT and DLNA SERVER strings. Should help with getting content from some remote sites.
52. NEW: Added the toolbar buttons "Fill Track Numbers From List Order", "Rename, Move, & Copy Files", and "Fill Properties From Filename".
53. Changed: Added a Media Editor icon to the toolbar (before it was just black).
54. Changed: The setting for "Start over each album" is saved between shows of the Fill Track Numbers From List Order dialog.
55. Changed: Radio JRiver tracks will play to DLNA devices.
56. NEW: Added the program run-time to the Reporter view.
57. Changed: Slovak translation updated (thanks Peter Lukac).
58. Fixed: If you selected files below a grouping, then dragged the window to move it, getting the selection would get files from the top grouping list instead of the bottom list.
59. Changed: Auto-size of columns would not work in viewsubs that filled files in a thread.
60. Changed: Added the media subtype Entertainment.
61. Fixed: The /StartMin and /StartMax commands would not reliably work.
62. Changed: Added finer granularity to the bass management cross-over selections in Room Correction.
63. NEW: You can specify what files to include in the share for Library Server in Options > Media Network > Set rules for included files...
64. Fixed: Some MP3 streams wouldn't play because they didn't like our user agent.  Revised our default user agent.
65. Changed: Updated German translation file (thanks Bytestar).
66. Fixed: Webservice calls to get a stack image could cause a crash if the folder was empty.
67. NEW: MC will read "set" tag in newer format (one with child element <name>) as well as in older format (without child element <name>) from NFO sidecar files.
68. Changed: MC will match custom fields with NFO elements without considering case (so custom field "Set" will match <set> in NFO file).
69. NEW: Added channels to Radio Paradise in Theater View (both streaming and adding Radio Paradise individually).
70. Fixed: The Blue Steel skin could draw distorted in Display View.
71. Changed: Switched how we nest image keywords to hopefully line up with Adobe better.  We now use a > character instead of a / character.
72. NEW: Parse the XMP value title for the name field.
73. NEW: Update libgnutls/libnettle ssl libraries.
74. Changed: Simplify MC's internet USER AGENT and DLNA SERVER strings. Should help with getting content from some remote sites.

Installed and gave it a basic test, it's all working thus far.

Ditto.  Been running it all morning so far.

I copied one of the Modern Card skins and edited the waveform colors without an issue.  In case someone is looking for the location on Mac, those files are at: Users > username > Library > Application Support > J River > Media Center 26 > Skins > Standard View.

I've installed it but unfortunately it didn't import my former library with my playlists :-/
What can I do?

There was a problem checking for updates
« Reply #6 on: January 17, 2020, 07:44:11 am »

Doing a manual stable update check and get the message above.  Same Mac mini still has v25 on it and I was able to update it with no problem.

I installed, restored my old library used by MC25. All is working. However MC created another library entry, with no name, and a path that does not exist, and which I cannot delete from the list of available libraries.

See attached screen shot. Highlighted/selected under "Playing Now" is a library with no name. Info on the right indicates that the library's path is a place which does not exist. (App Support/J River/Media Center 26/ does not contain a folder named "Read-only Library".) Library tools gives me no way to delete this entry from the library list.

The library I *do* use, "One True MC Library", is fine, I've been using it for several releases now.

If you rename it to something like foo can you then delete it?

Negative. Select the empty-named library, click the "Rename" button, nothing happens. There is no text into which to type.

I was using MC 25 on Mac Mini with Maverics without problems. I installed this version of MC26. I have a master licence file that I am using for my Windows as well for this Mac Mini machine. I downloaded the licence file, double-clicked on it and I've got the message that the licence is successfully installed. But when I look at the MC26 Registration Info I see that this registration does not exist or it is not accepted ?! I tried it several times, restarted the machine, restarted the MC26 - no success. What to do ? By the way, on my windows machine I did not have any issues ...

Make sure you're using the latest build of MC26.  Then use the Help Menu in MC26 to install the license.

It looks like this is on a successful exit, an issue with closing the Settings file, it shouldn't affect how it runs. We are looking into in..

Can you hide it by right-clicking on it and doing hide?

Audio Dropout again w/MAc
« Reply #18 on: January 21, 2020, 04:09:07 am »

Argh.   I just had a short audio dropout.   I replayed the same tract and the dropout did not repeat (not file problem).  Then a short time later a major audio dropout.   I can't find any changes in settings (from 25 to 26.

I can't remember the last time I heard a dropout.  It must be months.   I thought it was over and done.   Something in 26???

Couple issues during upgrade...
 - When backing up MC25 library it defaults to user home folder for backup file however when 'restoring' library into MC26 it defaults to some entirely different path to pull the backups from.  Both making a backup and restoring a backup 'should' default to the same path.
 - Even though I had applied my MC26 license key within MC25 on first launch MC26 acted like I had no license and required me to 'restore' my license meaning finding my email and cut/pasting my key in.  It 'should' just transfer from MC25 assuming the key was legit for MC26 which it was.
 - First launch window opens full screen and even after library restore remains full screen window rather then the last used window positions of MC25.
 - MC26 is requesting ability to record my screen?!  Seems fishy
 - Requires user to go into prefs -> Security and enable MC26 and something called 'PackageInstaller' Accessibility permissions.
 - Creates a 'Local' library and uses that instead of my previously selected library by default. Rather it 'should' just use my previously selected library after restore.
 - When running auto-import using previously selected and fully imported library it re-scans and updates all thumbnails 'again' all 65501 of them

All of these (with the exception of the "screen record permissions" and License re-entry are because you are using a library backup from MC25. Hopefully we can make that automatic in the future like the windows version.
The license re-entry will always be the case, it's the same in windows.
The "screen recording" permission is not because we need to record the screen, it's the accessibility permission required to handle switching in and out of retina mode.
