Interworking with a NAS
« on: January 19, 2020, 09:35:49 am »

I have the impression I am doing most thinks twice.... :-[
Perhaps you can guide me to stop this....

Within my home network I have a HTPC, a workstation and a NAS.
The NAS is new. Before I bought it my audiofiles are stored at a HDD within my HTPC.

E.g. today I reorg my symphony files ( classical audio). I 've done that via TeamViewer with MC installed on the HTPC.
After work is done, I checked it with my MC installed on the Workstation. I than noticed nothing changed from this viewpoint ;-(

The first picture is shown a viewpoint of the Beethoven Symphonies library "NAS to HTPC"

The result of the view on the HTPC direct vs. the view from the Workstation of theremote HTPC library.

In comparison again the viewpint from the HTPC library vs. viewpoint of the workstation library.

I hope you understand what I mean and wanted to do...
When I reorg the audio files, I want to see the results on both libraries (HTPC and Workstatoin).
How do I do that?

The easiest way is to not use 2 libraries. Use one and turn on media sharing. Then connect the other computer to the main library.

Search for Media Network for more info. But here's the basics:
1) Main PC you want the library on, Options-> Media Network
2) Check Use Media network to share this library ....
3) Authentication on/off is your choice
4) Go to the other computer and select File-> Library, select the library you just shared.

It doesn't matter where your media is stored.

I am using shared Media network at the HTPC for the EOS/ Andriod remote today.

But from my point of view the shared media/ DB is at the wrong place:
When I am listen to music / working with audio files the NAS is alway on.
When I am working on files the workstation is alway on. The HTPC not in most times.
When I am listen to music the HTPC is alway on. The workstation not in most times.
Therefor is it possible to store te shared Media/ DM on the NAS?

Edit:
