channel scan fails, but a manually added channel works
« on: January 16, 2020, 11:54:47 am »

I have Media Center 23.0.104

It recognizes my media card (Hauppauge WinTV-HVR-2255). I can manually add a channel and watch that channel in Media Center 23.

However, channel scan finds 0 channels. I have attached the log files.

Please try the latest version of MC26.

I moved to a new machine. It worked fine with that card and version of Media Center on the old machine. Why would it stop just from the move?

A missing driver for the TV tuner?  Did you install software for it?

Is there a way to grab the channel list from the install on the old computer?

I did install the driver for the tuner. And I can watch the manually installed channel with no problems. So the card works with Media Center 23. The channel scan does not at present.

Manually adding channels is slow and tedious, so that does not seem like a good option.

From the old system, File>Library>Back Up Library   tehn File>Library>Restore Library on the new machine restored all my channels.

Installing Media Center 26 and re-scanning the channels also works.

Most likely it is Windows 10 breaking things.  TV channel scanning in older versions of MC would not work with the latest Windows 10 anymore due to changes made in Windows 10.

Ok. I haven't tried a channel scan for a few updates of Windows 10, so that may be the case.

At any rate, I am up and running now.
Thanks.
