Severe distortion on fades with MC26 and Asus / Realtek High Def Codec S1220a

Hello,

I've recently upgraded to MC26, having previously been using MC24/25. The problem I am having is that I'm experiencing heavy distortion during fades - it almost sounds like the sound is being bit truncated to 8bits. It isn't noticable during normal playback, but I'm sure it must also be impacting the reproduction of low level detail during normal playback.

I am monitoring via a pair of JBL Control 1s and a Q Acoustics Sub, driven by a Nobsound NS20 100wpc class D amplifier via analogue output. The amp is connected to the computer via the motherboard stereo output rather than the front panel jack.

I have an Asus ROG Strix X570-F Gaming motherboard (AMD Ryzen 3900X) and I am using the onboard Realtek sound card, which has the following specs:

I am currently using the Realtek driver v6.0.8791.1 but the problem has been apparent with previous earlier versions too.

I'd really appreciate some diagnostic and trouble-shooting help as it's cramping my audio pleasure!.

Bump - still having this problem during fades. It sounds horrible - like bit truncation during the fade out. Amplification level in Realtek Audio Control Panel is set to 'Performance' (lowest output level / lowest distortion). MC26 is using ASIO, so I'm sure it ignores all of those settings anyway.

Can someone help? it's a real pain!

Try WASAPI or Direct Sound.
