MC 26 Video Seasons Cover Art TV Shows
« on: February 09, 2020, 10:51:35 am »

I am wondering what the use of season cover work is for shows with multiple seasons. MC has a folder of seasons cover art, similar to series cover art. However, this cover art is not used in various views: it is either all episodes (and then the episode art work is shown of the episodes. Do I miss something (FYI Plex has a series - seasons - episode view).

Same for MC - Series Seasons Episodes view (though if for Series you only have one season … in TheatreView Season view will be skipped to go straight to episode view, which is a bit annoying)

My guess is something went wrong getting metadata and/or covers for your series/seasons/episodes … look at one of your episodes tags, did MC get it right (series name, season #, episode #)?

From what I've seen, those "seasons" images are only used by Standard View.  Theater View completely ignores them, and uses a thumbnail from the first episode instead.  It's a shame, really.

You sure? ... works for me

PS. Only time Theatre view will not show season cover, if you only have one season of that show ...in that case from series view it will take you straight away to episode view (skipping season view)

Season Cover Art is used in the standard Shows/Series View in Theatre View, as long as you have episodes from more than one Season, as per tij's description.

If a user watches and deletes Episodes as they are recorded, and therefore never has Episodes from more than one Season, then Season Cover Art will never be seen.

I've never seen Standard View Views show Season Cover Art, but then I haven't tried to make a View that does. Basically, Theatre View supports three levels, Series-Season-Episode, while Standard View supports two levels, Group (Series)-Detail (Episode).

Ah, it looks like you have modified the default "Shows" View in Standard View, adding a "Season" category using the expression "TVInfo(SeasonDisplay)", much like the Theatre View definition.

Yes, that works. It just doesn't come that way in the default Library.

I tend to use a List Style of "Details" when in Standard View, rather than "Thumbnails". I might build a permanent Thumbnails version like yours on my HTPC.

Yeah … MC has SOOOO MANY OPTIONS - I barely scratched it surface

I did that view only to test if shows with only one season will show season cover art (which it did) … I also tend to use list style for Standard View as it is easier to tag things (which is mostly what I use Standard View for)
