Does MC26 Alter File Contents / Attributes When Playing
« on: March 01, 2020, 07:10:55 am »

Hi,

I'm a recent convert to MC and so far I haven't regretted the purchase at all.

But I have got one liddle bitty problem I'm hoping someone more versed in MC than I will be able to help with.

I use SpiderOak "One" as a cloud backup service for my music with the backed up folders constantly monitored for file changes by the "One" background process.

Everytime MC26 plays a file (.flac or .mp3), the "One" background process sees a change to that file and backs it up all over again.

I was wondering if MC26 changes the file or its attributes after / during playing in any way that would trigger the "One" process to believe the file had been changed rather than just accessed.

Apologies if this has been asked before, I have searched but failed to find anything similar.

Thanks All.

When you play a file, MC increments the play count by 1.  It changes the tag unless you tell MC not to save tags to files (a setting).

There is a search window at the bottom of the settings page.

There is a search window at the bottom of the settings page.
Is that Options->General->Importing and Tagging?

Does that mean all tagging (which is usually desired)?  Is there an option just for the play count?

Sorry for the intrusion.
