Now getting stuck for a very long time
« on: March 10, 2020, 10:31:39 am »

As previously reported, my MC26 is getting stuck on some tasks for minutes, sometimes. This time I got impatient after >5 minutes while I was trying to generate a custom View. MC became unresponsive and I quit after several minutes. The log is attached. Any insight into this issue is highly appreciated.
many thanks,
Hans
ADDITION:
Now got a crash while trying to build a view. Added MacOS crash report and new log.
MORE:
This is now reproducible. I get stuck when modifying a new View when I press "Set rules for files display...", then make the rule Genre is any Classical and when I try to make that stick MC freezes at the stage shown in the screenshot (attached).

I just created almost exactly the same view in Mojave without issue.
Will check it on Catalina. In the meantime a new build will be up shortly that fixed another user's crash issue, I'd be interested in seeing if that changes anything for you.

Attached is a screenshot from the build I'm uploading now with a composer based smart list. It just worked for me. Are your files stored on the machine or on the network?

Thanks Bob,
My files are on a Synology NAS and I mounted the "music" folder using smb on my iMac. Unrelated, this NAS broke down yesterday after 5 years of perfect performance so I won't be able to do any more tests until the new one arrives, hopefully later today. In the meantime I'll install .34
Best regards,
Hans

The long delays and the breakdown of the NAS might be related.

Quite possibly disc retries.

That is, of course, possible but I hadn't noticed any performance degradation with file transfers etc. before the crash that happened literally over night. I have now set up a new DS1819+ and everything is back to normal. haven't done much editing so cannot tell if the getting stuck issue is completely solved. I sure hope so.
cheers
