Media Center 25 and 26 Won't See CD/DVD Drive Under Ubuntu 18.04 LTS

cyberjew:
Hello,

I'm a long time Linux user, but I've never used MC on it until today. I originally installed MC26 on my computer and it would not find the CD/DVD (/dev/sr0) drive on my computer (Dell XPS tower). I decided to uninstall MC26 and go back down to MC25 to see if it was a bug in 26, but I'm getting the same results. I've expanded all of the menus in the tree on the left side of the page so I don't think I'm missing anything.

The CD/DVD drive works fine in other applications (VLC, Audacity, etc.), so it's not a hardware issue, nor is the OS causing issues.

I hope I'm not missing something totally obvious...I'll feel really dumb!

Thanks in advance for your assistance!

By the way, when I run 'dmesg' I see the following output for the CD/DVD drive:

--- Code: ---[    3.061548] scsi 2:0:0:0: CD-ROM            PLDS     DVD+-RW DU-8A5LH 6D1M PQ: 0 ANSI: 5
[    3.376008] cdrom: Uniform CD-ROM driver Revision: 3.20
[    3.376148] sr 2:0:0:0: Attached scsi CD-ROM sr0
--- End code ---

It may not be supported yet. As far as I know, it's not yet.

Wow! That's pretty incredible. I'd think that's a pretty basic function...

Another person who's shocked!

The whole reason I went to the effort of installing MC26 (and converting the Library from Windows) on my Linux PC (Kubuntu 19.10), is so that I can continue ripping my CDs.

If playing and ripping CDs isn't even supported in Linux, then I've wasted time and money.
