Media Center 25 and 26 Won't See CD/DVD Drive Under Ubuntu 18.04 LTS
Awesome Donkey:
It's still on Bob's to-do list as far as I know.
cyberjew:
I’ve been a JRiver Media Center customer for years and have been using it primarily on Windows - a few times on MacOS. I made a decision to switch to Linux recently and, aside from JRiver not being able to play/rip CDs, I’m happy with my decision.
That said, I don’t plan on renewing my license when there’s a new release as a result of a huge basic feature like this that is missing.
dbaldock9:
I've got a DVD audio album from an independant musician.
On it, there's a set of files that contain the whole album, in different formats (CDA=422.1-MB, WAV=422.1-MB, FLAC=263.8-MB, MP3=38.3-MB, OGG=31.7-MB).
If I right-click on the FLAC file in the Dolphin File Manager, and select open with MC26 - the drive is accessed for ~30-minutes, reading the data into a cache file - and then MC26 plays the music.
But, the drive still doesn't show up anywhere in the MC26 interface.
And, once the file stops playing, trying to restart the music by clicking on Play, just results in a "There is nothing to play" error.
EDIT: The file that's read off of the CD, is stored in this location on my Kubuntu 19.10 system: ~/.cache/kioexec/krun/[random #]/FullCD.[cda | wav | flac | mp3 | ogg]
I do have KIO AudioCD installed.
