Have a couple of mkv video files where the audio is DTS. I can’t for the life of me get any sound out of them though, even transcoding. The video plays no problem.

Converting the file to a new format works but more curious as to what it is about a DTS audio file that makes it so difficult to play over DLNA.

Going via Bubble / Chromecast Ultra. The amp thinks it is getting PCM 2/0. I don’t have this issue with any other file type.

Some other threads in here addressing DTS but haven’t found anything that helps/explains.

From my brief surfing as far as I understand it the Chromecast Ultra is your problem as it does not appear to support DTS.

For the record I have many mkv files with DTS audio that I stream via DLNA to devices and have no problems.

Funny thing is I can’t seem to get a transcode that works either. I’ll keep trying different options though.

I have DVD/Blue Ray ripped to MKV.
On Network DLNA playback, my Core i5 CPU maxes out to 100% and the playback is very slow/jerky/stops and audio is extremely intermittent. All playback as Dolby Digital 5.1- no DTS.
Is there anyway this can be eradicated? OR may be improved to watchable?
How are you streaming? Can you help please.

Setup: DVD/Blue Ray ripped MKV & stored in HD connected to Laptop. Video sent via Serviio media server to Panasonic BDT110 (using Roku-non 4kTV profile-displaying on Samsung UE55JU7000 TV.

If the drive is connected with USB, make sure it's a  USB 3.0 port.  Even then, it may not have enough bandwidth.

Antivirus could also be causing problems.

You could move a file to your local drive to test.

I use JRiver as the DLNA server, no need for Servilo.
If you go to Tools>Options>Media Network then tick "Use Media Network to share this Library and enable DLNA"
Then on the same page click "...Add or configure DLNA servers..." this will bring up a windows where you can setup and configure DLNA servers.
I would suggest under Video you set "Mode: Original", this way your laptop will not have to re-encode the video on the fly as it sounds like Servilo is doing, which is why your CPU is maxing out.
As long as your videos are in your JRiver library you should now be able to stream them to your bluray player using DLNA.
