20 Second Buffer

Hi

My setup is PC Running MC server  library etc . Ethernet to Router , Cable , Ethernet To switch in listening area.

Then Ethernet to Cambridge Audio CXN and hence onwards to DAC amp etc

As I start an album I quite often get a small drop out at 20 seconds in , it sounds like a buffer gets to full and it switches to "stream" (absolute split second but irritating) I don't know how better to describe it

Its characteristic at 20 -22 seconds only as an album starts

Is there anything in MC that has a 20 sec buffer that I don't know about

CA Support can cast no light

Any Ideas Anyone ?

Try increasing Options > Audio > Prebuffering.

It was set at 6.  I increased to 20 . If it works I'll drop back slightly

I assume I will see a slight delay in starting

Even set at 20 sec , it’s still happening

Any other thoughts

It does sound like something switching over ?

Tricky one.  You could try increasing the buffering on the output.  Look in Options > Audio.

The only buffer I can see in Options is the one I have set to 20 sec

When I select CXN I get a message to configure as a DLNA server whihc has no options for buffering

Stuck !!

The Cambridge Audio CXN is a network streamer, so surely any audible drop out is happening due to buffers there, rather than in MC? The blip could be when the Cambridge Audio CXN buffer is filled. Or maybe any buffer in the DAC.

MC is a long way upstream from the playback issue.

As you are playing to a DLNA Renderer, you could try changing the DLNA Controller Options for the Cambridge Audio CXN Zone under Playing Now. Maybe some communication from MC to the Cambridge Audio CXN is causing the Cambridge Audio CXN to blip.

Just to add to this, you can't change the buffering for the renderer since it's what's in charge of doing that.
There is an option in the Advanced settings for MC's DLNA server to enable the bitrate field. You might try that to see if it helps. It's an advisory thing that some renderers don't use properly so it's turned off by default.
