Unable to restore library
« on: May 01, 2020, 07:38:35 am »

Previously on MC24, I just installed MC26 for Windows.
Now I am unable to restore my Library. When I try, JRiver just hangs.
I tried rebooting, but the problem persists. Any idea?

It should work unless the backup is corrupted.  Wait a while.

Antivirus programs cause a lot of problems like this.

It appears that backup was (partly) restored after killing and restarting MC26. The views were there, but not the Skin or the general settings in Options. Is this normal?

If you were using a custom skin in MC24, you will need to copy it across from the install path of MC24 to MC26. You may want to check if there has been an update of the skin also.

If you Restored a Library with Setting (tickbox) "Options > General" settings should be there. I very small number of settings might get set to defaults because of functionality changes. Check all settings.

If you killed MC26 while it was restoring, naturally it wouldn't have completed and stuff will be missing. As Jim said, wait a while to see if it completes.

Not using any antivirus program for this audio-dedicated PC.

On Windows 10, Windows Defender is always on.

On Windows 10, Windows Defender is always on.

Not when you deactivate it. And I am actually running Windows Server 2019, with the Defender removed.

JRiver doesn't support running JRiver Media Center on Windows Server OSes.
