It certainly has been asked before but I could't find a newer request: one can go to a download site for a new design. How can I install the mar files that are on this site on my Mac?

Are you talking about skins?  An example might help.

Most if not all of the skins on the main site's repository likely haven't been updated for macOS and new MC features like the new tag window and likely won't look/function well. I'd suggest using skins that are maintained - you can find them in this forum section: https://yabb.jriver.com/interact/index.php/board,5.0.html

Yes, I meant skins. As far as I can see new skins are for windows only. It's not really important: anyhow there are some to choose.

To install a skin on MC for Mac (roughtly)

1.  Download the MJP file.  It's a text file with a URL inside.  Use TextEdit or something else to open it and copy the URL.
2.  Paste the URL into a web browser or something and download the ZIP file that has the SKIN inside it.
3.  Go find your skins directory for your version of MC.  It should be at a path similar to:  /Users/<your user name>/Library/Application Support/J River/Media Center 26/Skins/Standard View .  To get there, you probably have to open Finder and use the "Go To Folder" option.  Because for some stupid reason, Mac wants to hide your Library directory from you.  The Go To menu item will get you there though.  I use "~/Library" which is a shortcut to "my user name>/Library"  .
4.  Unzip the Skin ZIP file into a new directory inside the Skins/Standard View/ directory.  This should happen automatically when you use an unzip program, as most skins create this new directory.  For example, if the skin is named "Bob", it will create a directory named "Bob" where ever you unzip it.

At this point, MC should see the new skin and be able to use it in the View > Skin menu.

Experiment a bit and you'll get it to work.

Thanks for the tutorial. Regrettably the only folder where I can find the skins is inside MediaCenter program.
I took the downloaded folder into this folder and made a restart of MediaCenter but the skin "873" is not listed in the skin's list.
The appended pictures hopefully will show what I mean.

Right click on Finder and select Go to Folder... and copy and paste ~/Library into it and press Go. From there go into the Application Support folder, then J River folder, then the Media Center 26 folder, then the Skins folder and finally the Standard View folder. Inside there you can put new/custom skins.

Thanks for the advice and finally I found the folder. I downloaded from the skins site the skin "iTunes FusionX", put it to the JRiver/ Application support folder. But the skin apparently isn't recognised because it's not listed in the skin list inside MC. Pictures are appended.

I'm guessing you put the Skin into a different version of JRiver.  Under Application Support/JRiver there's a folder for each version of Media Center.  Make sure you put it in the folder corresponding the version of MC you are using.

If that doesn't cover it, did you download the ZIP file and unzip it?  Do you see many files in the newly created folder (ITunes Fusion X)?

That was the solution. The skin was in one of the older versions of  MC in the library.
Thank you very much for your help!
