Greyed-out files
« on: April 22, 2003, 06:24:30 pm »

Next to every song in MC9, there is an icon of a page with blue note on it. Some of my songs have this icon greyed-out and I cannot play those songs. These files play fine in other programs and on my iPod, but when I try to play them in MC9, it just skips to the next song. When I open one of these greyed-out files, through Explorer or File > Open Media File..., I get the following message:

Media Center was unable to play any of the files in the playlist.
Please make sure that the path in Media Library points to the right location.
Also double check to make sure that you are not unintentionally filtering these files.

I am able to get the songs to play by clearing them from my music library and re-importing them. However, the next time I load MC the same files are grey.

Hi p00n1s,

Some of my songs have this icon greyed-out and I cannot play those songs.

Don't worry, you are probably unintentionaly filtering some of your songs.
To fix that go to Player/Player Options/Playback Filter and select [Do not filter].
Before doing that you can fly your cursor over the "playback options icon" in the player window to see if some filter is in action (e.g. I'm always filtering my 'Skips' playlist) :

Note that left clicking on the "playback options icon" will also allow you to set the filtering options while right clicking on it will bring the playback option dialogue.

Hope this will help, have a good day,

Christian
