.m2v Video Files
« on: April 23, 2003, 09:12:46 am »

A few builds ago MC finally realised that .m2v files are video and not audio.  It also filled in the duration column for some .m2v's but not others.

I have just installed Build 157 and thought that now MC used it's own video playback engine it might fill in the missing durations.  I picked a file and did an Update from file tags--always but that didn't work.  I then tried deleting the file and re-importing it.  It has now classed that file as Audio and not Video  :(

1.  Is there a difference in the way .m2v files are encoded that would mean MC can read the duration of some and not others?

2.  Can we have .m2v files classed as video again?

We will take a look.  There are several new video problems that we're fixing today.  We may build early today so people can test.

Hi Jim,

I can confirm build 158 has cured the problem with the file being classified as audio.

The problem with the duration showing as 0:00 is still there though.  I do have other .m2v files where the duration has been read so I'm not sure what the problem is.

No big deal - fix it when you can  ;)
