Blu-Ray player not being found by MediaCenter
« on: June 07, 2020, 10:16:51 am »

Frequently my Pioneer UDP-LX500 Blu-Ray player doesn't show up as a device I can play to, controlled by MC on my Windows PC from my DLNA.  For me, it seems to be a problem in general with Blu-Ray players for some reason, because I frequently have the same problem seeing my Oppo 103.  My AVR, TV, etc. always appear without issue.  Everything is on the same network, switch, router, etc.  When I cannot see them in MC, I can see them fine as media devices and 'other' devices from my Windows network browser.  Also when I ping them from Windows they respond immediately.  To resolve I usually end up having to close and restart MC several times, and/or power cycle the Blu-Ray player a bunch of times.  Obviously this diminishes the enjoyment of my music listening experience.

Any suggestions on how to fix this annoyance?

Some tips, as requested:

1) the Blu-ray player must be awake; it won’t be discovered if it is in sleep mode..
2) it must be on the same ip subnet as MC and your router; in practice this means that both should get their IP addresses via DHCP from the same router.
3) even better than being on the same subnet is for both devices to have a reserved IP address on that router
