Every few months so far since I purchased Ver 24 to v25 to v26 I have coughed up $28.to upgrade a master license, only to find cosmetic changes and some bug fixes that could have been pushed in smaller updates.

You don't have to upgrade.  You can use one version forever.

--- Quote ---V27 has one major feature, VST3 support, which is by industry standards late. Also, VST3 files are not necessarily dll's but. Vst3 files. So talking about dll's and vst3 does not make sense.

I have since been exploring options like Roon, HQPlayer, Audirvana, and Roon and Audirvana appear to be doing a slightly better job of the end that matters-- audio quality.

It's hard to improve on perfect.

If other players sound different (even better), they are manipulating the sound.  There are lots of ways to do that in MC if that's what you want.  Turning up the volume, for example.

I may move this to a new thread.

Your album scraping offering is below par, and those days of just repopulating from tags are gone. Using JRiver sources many albums go un-updated, even if I use your search features.  Because I understand the power of JRiver I come back to it.

What about vst3 files that are not dll's? They are. Vst3 extensions. None of my VST3 are dlls but have a vst3 extension and I know from other vst hosts that are not detected.

And I will be upgrading my Master License.....too tempting not to.

Is this an upgrade from v.26 or is it a new install? If the latter like last time then I will pass as it is not worth the hassle of having to change all my settings, views, skins etc. back to how I want them. Not to mention new access codes for Gizmo etc. I know there is supposed to be a way of importing settings but this is far too fiddly so unless v.27 comes up with a must have feature then I will save my money (though I do really want to fund you guys and your excellent product)

JimH:
On Windows, MC27 will find your library from MC26 or earlier and use it, including your settings.

On Mac or Linux, you need to restore a backup from MC26 or earlier.  It's not automatic.
