MC sticking/cutting out
« on: July 14, 2020, 08:37:03 am »

MC keeps sticking on my Macbook Pro. It stops midway through a track or at the end of a track. Have to click on stop then play to get it going again. Have looked through other threads here but can't find a solution. Was running MC24 so I upgraded to MC26, but problem remains.

Music files are mostly FLAC (a minority of WAVs and ALAC in there too) on a 3TB MyBook Studio connected to the Macbook. DAC is a Chord Mojo. Whole setup is connected to the stereo; no wireless involved.

I've taken a look at activity monitor but unsure how to read it -- nothing seems to be using too much memory but how much is too much?

Would appreciate any help here -- I've been using JRiver for seven years and this glitch is ruining it for me.

FWIW I kept getting this prompt plus the agree/disagree prompt when I tried to attach the log to the forum post just now. It's done this before

It sounds like you're opening the .dmg file and running Media Center 26 from there once you hit Agree, which is the incorrect way of using Media Center (or any other app on macOS). After you hit Agree and the little window opens with the Media Center 26 app and the Applications folder/shortcut, you need to drag Media Center 26 into the Applications folder, close the .dmg window with the Media Center 26 app and Applications shortcut in it, then go into the actual Applications folder and run Media Center 26 from there. Make sure you're using the latest build 26.0.102 found here: https://yabb.jriver.com/interact/index.php/topic,126236.0.html

Thanks. I did drag the icon into the apps folder initially but it kept doing it so I gave up. I'll do as you suggest.

Do you think this is causing the cutting-out? Or is there something else in the log I posted?

Have downloaded the latest JRiver but problem persists. Could someone take a look at this log please?

Try local files (not on an external drive).
Try a different DAC.

That might help identify where the problem is.

I will. The log doesn't reveal anything?

Logs aren't usually needed and we'll ask when we do.

Is your output device connected to the Mac via network?

OK, bob (above) requested a log. I've tried switching the DAC to the Macbook's other USB -- no problems so far.

Until now. So it's not the USB. Will try a different DAC.
