Unable to Play Over Bluetooth
« on: August 02, 2020, 05:57:05 pm »

I get a playback error when I try to play over bluetooth.
Code: [Select]
Playback could not be started on the output 'Core Audio' using the format '44.1 kHz 2ch'
Everything plays fine using my computer speakers. I am able to play just fine over bluetooth using iTunes. I have tried with different Bluetooth devices (AirPods Pro and Sony WH-100XM3)

MC 26.103
MacOS 10.15.6

I have similar issue - check the thread that I started last week: https://yabb.jriver.com/interact/index.php/topic,126285.0.html

I doubt there's either a bug of macOS 10.15.6 or something related to Core Audio has changed since the 10.15.6.

I don't think that's the same issue I'm having. My core audio still shows available, as does the BT headphones.

Don't use the Default Core Audio output, use the one for your WH-100XM3 or the Pro Speakers.

- Choosing the WH-100XM3 as an output option gives the same "unable to play" error.
- Choosing the Pro Speakers causes the output to the speakers despite have BT connected
- Are you suggesting I have to go into Options every time I want to listen over headphones?

Every other audio program works fine on my system. I can play to BT via iTunes or VLC. Streaming sources (Radio Paradise) don't play at all in MC with BT connected. As soon as I disconnect BT then they play fine.

Oh, Bluetooth. For most Bluetooth devices you have to resample everything to 48 kHz as they usually don't support 44.1 kHz. You'll probably have to use DSP Studio > Output Format > Sample rate and set the 44,100 Hz input to 48,000 Hz output and it *should* work. You'll have to do it for all sample rates you're going to use.
