MC Server Bug (version 9.0.149)
« on: April 17, 2003, 09:41:44 pm »

Just downloaded MC 9 beta v9.0.149. Very Fantastic!!!

However, I think I've found a bug when creating a media server library.

In my HOSTS file, I have a DNS mapping--the name "brandt" to the IP address 192.168.1.11. If I try to create a library with the location "brandt:42000" (host brandt, port 42000), MJ thinks I'm trying to create a directory and gives me the error message you see below:

If I use the IP address instead, it works. If I use a fully-qualified domain name (e.g. donny.joshuab.com), it works. But just "donny" should work too, because that's a totally valid DNS name.

Hi Loraan,

I'm not convinced. Libraries can also be directories, and some directories are also valid domain names. I'll think about this and see if I can come up with something more reasonable.

I see your point. IMHO, in this case, the colon should give it away, since colons can't be in file names.
