Running audio from mka-file while watching video from a mkv-file
« on: September 08, 2020, 12:16:11 pm »

Is it possible to watch a mkv-video-file, and use a separate mka-file as the audio-stream? And if so, how do I do it?

Yes, in a video editing program that allows audio replacement.  Or play the mka in one instance of VLC while playing the MKV in another instance -- Use a bit of quick pause/unpause action to achieve lip sync.

To watch them in a normal playback program, you can create a combined third file by muxing them together using mkvmerge. Then the combined audio and video can be played in any playback program, like JRiver or VLC.

Hehe, ok, so basically no then? To have a reasonable result one needs to mux them together?
