Still no upsampling to DSD for streaming
« on: September 23, 2020, 03:05:51 pm »

I have requested this feature for the last couple of versions, to upsample network streams to DSD256.  In the past, JRiver has said there are impediments to doing this over DLNA, i.e., difficulties in managing track length.

If that's the state of the art at JRiver, I am okay with not being able to upsample that way, but, for the record, the network options still allow the user to believe that JRiver can do that.  When creating a new server, you still can select "upsample to DSD" options on the pick list, but, then, tracks that aren't native DSD don't upsample to DSD and native DSD tracks just create error messages.

In the past, when I have raised this issue, JRiver has agreed that the DSD upsampling option should be grayed out in the DSP settings for servers.  I renew my request that JRiver either implement this feature or correct the options settings so that no one is disappointed.   Thanks.
